Climb one of the UK's tallest buildings and Preston's highest point!

St. Walburge's is opening its doors to visitors and giving them an amazing opportunity to climb up the spire on Saturday 20 August 2022 from 4pm to 8pm.

Visitors will be able to ascend the 309-foot (94 metre) high spire, which is the third tallest spire in the UK, and the tallest on a parish church.

On a clear day visitors will have a excellent view of Preston, and the surrounding countryside as far as Blackpool.

The tower contains a single bell of 31 cwt (1.5 tonnes) cast by Mears and Stainbank of Whitechapel which is the heaviest swinging bell in Lancashire.

How to book

The times of access are 4pm to 8pm and ticket price is £10.

All proceeds will go to assist in the maintenance of this structure and especially the restoration of our amazing Rose Window.

Tickets can be purchased online only, no sale at the doors.

Every 30 minutes, 15 people will be able to climb the 172 steps, tours of the Church will be offered and refreshments served in the Hall.

Book your ticket by visiting Eventbrite - The Spire in Summer.
