Get ready for a night packed with laughter at The Aviary! Join us on Thursday, 29 May at 8pm for an incredible evening featuring some of the UK's top comedy acts.
Headliner: Raul Kohli
Raul Kohli has fast become one of the most captivating acts in UK comedy. Growing up Indian's in the far north of England (Newcastle Upon Tyne) he's blessed with a Worldview that upends ethnicity, culture and class. Combining 'Superb political comedy' (The Scotsman) with surreal storytelling, Raul Kohli is a recognized name in Comedy.
His debut show was one of BBC Radio 4, The Huffington Post and the Skinny's top picks of the Edinburgh Fringe 2016, his 2019 show was nominated for best show at the Leicester Comedy Festival, while his most recent was nominated for best show at the Edinburgh Fringe 2024 (Ish awards), made both The Guardian and The Daily Mail's Top Ten Jokes of the Fringe, and was described by Chortle as 'one of the most important shows of the fringe' As well as several radio and TV appearances, Raul released his own comedy podcast about Hinduism on BBC Sounds' (Comic Sanskrit 2019) rated 5* by The Guardian and is currently the host of BBC Newcastle official NUFC podcast: Just Put It In The Net.
Raul is an award-winning comedian (NATYS 2017) and appears regularly at some of the biggest comedy clubs around the World (The Stand Edinburgh, Frog and Bucket Manchester, Comedyhuis Netherlands). Raul also has a short yet ceremonious career in writing and acting, having wrote and starred in numerous RTS Award Nominated short films, he's also appeared in the sitcom : The VAR room (2021), starred in two Channel 4 shorts: Jokes Only An Indian Can Tell (>1m views on FB) and Jokes Written By AI, wrote and done voiceover work on Mike Reiss' (Writer/Producer - The Simpsons) podcast: What Am I Doing Here and for Lego.
He acted as the lead in a short feature film: White Privilege where he was nominated for Best Actor (UK Film Awards 2024). He has recently appeared in the NUFC Amazon Prime documentary: We Are Newcastle, has recently began work on BBC Radio Newcastle doing weekday evening shows as well as hosting the BBC Total Sport NUFC podcast and presented Passion and Football in the North East' for Channel 4 for the pre-match coverage between England and Bosnia and appeared in the new Adidas commercial for the 2024 NUFC Kit Launch.

Dawn Bailey is a comedian known for her relatable humour and down-to-earth comedic style. Drawing from her own life experiences, she delivers sharp observations with warmth and wit, making her a crowd favourite. Dawn's engaging stage presence and authentic storytelling have earned her a growing fanbase on the comedy circuit.

The evening will be guided by the charming and quick-witted MC John Gray, ensuring the laughs keep coming throughout the show.
