Race for Life 2025
Get ready to show your support for this great cause.
Race for Life is Cancer Research UK's biggest series of fundraising events. Taking place in Preston will be a 3k route, a 5K route, and a 10K route mostly on flat grass with the occasional slight incline. Get involved or show your support for this great cause.
Race for Life is a series of routes around the country that give people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities the chance to come together and help beat cancer. They're strictly non-competitive, and you can take it at your own pace.
Pretty Muddy isn't like any other fundraising event. It's a 5k muddy obstacle course that everyone, no matter their fitness level, can take part in! Climb, crawl and slide your way to help beat cancer.
Volunteering
Our Race for Life events couldn't happen without volunteers. Whatever time and skills you have to share, we've got a great role for you. Just bring your energy, smiles and passion to the party and let's help beat cancer together. Help set up and run the race, support our participants around the course or hand out medals at the finish line.

There are lots of volunteer roles for everyone:
Set up and Start volunteer
Get stuck in at the start of the day - from pitching flags and hanging banners to helping line up our participants and sending them on their way - you definitely won't be twiddling your thumbs.
Course Marshal Volunteer
Cheer on participants as they take part and lift some spirits along the way. You also ensure their safety and that they're going in the right direction through the course. Your support will spur them on!
Finish Line volunteer
You might be asked to help out at our buzzing finish line, where you will hand out water and medals and welcome our participants back with a smile.
Agenda
Race for Life starts at 10am, volunteers required to arrive from 9am - 1pm.
Pretty Muddy starts at 12:30pm and will finish approx. 3:30pm.
Volunteers are welcome to come and support the whole day or just whatever hours you are available for.
Pretty Muddy requires more volunteers to allow us to open all our inflatable obstacles. This is great fun as you can get involved with cheering the participants on and helping them get more muddy / wet.
Booking and Pricing
Entry costs for the races vary for each event:
- Preston 3k race: under 6's go free, ages 6 - 15 are £10, ages 16+ are £15
- Preston 5k race: under 6's go free, ages 6 - 15 are £11, ages 16+ are £16
- Preston 10k race: under 6's go free, ages 6 - 15 are £11, ages 16+ are £17.50
- Preston Pretty Muddy Kids: ages 6 - 12 are £12, supervising adults are free
- Preston Pretty Muddy 5k: children are £12, adults are £22.50
