Preston's Avenham and Miller Parks to Transform into a Fire Garden
28 November 2024
On Saturday, 7 December and Sunday, 8 December, Avenham and Miller Parks will shine with warmth and light, as the Fire Garden returns to Preston.
Produced by outdoor arts specialists, Walk the Plank, this event is set to illuminate the parks, inviting visitors to explore breathtaking installations of fiery structures and artistic displays, each crafted with striking visual impact.
Audiences are encouraged to venture along flame-lined paths amongst copper flowers that breathe fire, flaming lotus blossoms, and illuminated bushes and shrubs.
New to this year's installations, the Flaming Daisy Chain, will add another unique element. The intricate cycle of flower-shaped cogs turn, pulling a paraffin-soaked chain through a watering can, igniting into a continuous sequence of flaming blossoms.
In addition to the fiery installations, visitors can enjoy a range of live acts including fire performers from Wolf Entertainment on the Miller Park steps throughout the night. Sambafriq's samba band and dancers will light up Lord Derby Walk, while on Saturday, the Red Rosettes and on Sunday, the Singspiration Choir will fill the air with music near the Pavilion Café. Visitors can also experience the magical Jacks of Frost, towering stilt walkers from Artemis, as they glide along Lord Derby Walk.
Each visit to the Fire Garden offers a unique experience, engaging audiences in a magical interactive evening.
Councillor Hindle, Cabinet Member for Culture and Arts at Preston City Council, commented:
"The Fire Garden is a truly special experience, offering something unique for Preston residents and visitors alike. This event showcases the magic of the season in a setting that feels both intimate and awe-inspiring. We're proud to bring such a memorable attraction to Avenham and Miller Parks."
